The Brittany Run is named in honor of Brittany Zimmermann, a UW-Madison student who was murdered in her apartment on April 2, 2008. Her killer has not yet been identified, but her family and friends believe this person can be brought to justice if someone with knowledge of the crime steps forward.
This year, in an added effort at seeking important information to solve serious crimes in Madison, we are adding the case of UW-Whitewater student Kelly Nolan. Kelly was murdered during the early morning hours of June 23, 2007 after spending the previous evening in the State Street area of downtown Madison. Her body was located in a wooded area in the Town of Dunn, just north of the Village of Oregon, on July 9, 2007.
