On April 2, 2008 the UW Community and Zimmermann family experienced an unimaginable tragedy when Brittany Zimmermann was murdered in her downtown Madison apartment. Determined to prevent similar tragedies, the Madison Area Crime Stoppers, UW Police Department, and the Zimmermann family have partnered up to provide the Brittany Zimmermann 5k Run/Walk. This event will help raise awareness for Brittany’s yet unsolved case, as well as promote crime prevention throughout the Madison Area.
Proceeds from this charity event also help fund Crime Stoppers activities on Campus, and in Dane County. This year’s event will be held on September 29th, starting at the Memorial Union and running along the scenic Temin lake path. Brittany’s parents will once again greet each participant at the finish line!
